The Weekly - Message from the CO
Hi everyone,
I have to admit, I'm a little knackered from the whirlwind weekend. Despite the rain, we raised somewhere in the neighbourhood of $9000. Yes, you read that correctly. The rest of The Weekly will be along tomorrow.
The CO has sent a message that he would like me to share:
As we wait for the grand total of funds raised, I would like to take this opportunity to express my extreme gratitude for everyone’s participation in the Tag Day event that occurred this weekend. We had Cadets posted at three different venues: Town of Sidney, Broadmead Shopping Centre and Saanich Plaza.
I am very pleased with how our Cadets interacted with our community members and how they interacted with our Cadets. We all heard a plethora of stories from previous Cadets, Veterans and serving CAF members and folks who just wanted to engage with our Cadets.
Thank you to all the Cadets who were out there for their shifts and a special thanks to those who did multiple shifts and the Cadet who is not even going to Capernwray but was out there fundraising with us – Sgt Oliveira!!
Thank you to the parents/guardians/CVs who stepped up to help make sure our Cadets were cared for and acted as debit machines! Without you, we would not have been able to be at all of the different locations. A special thanks to Mary McCue, Sheila Conrad and Megan Mbao who spearheaded the event and researched/acquired the Clover devices so that we could have that option. That significantly increased our total donations!
Thank you to the officers and CIs who took on multiple three-hour shifts to ensure that we could be out there as long as we were. You are all amazing!
For those who couldn’t make their shifts and those who want to come to Camp Capernwray but didn’t have the opportunity to fundraise, fear not! We will find another way for you to step up to help contribute.
With so much gratitude,
Capt Jean-Guy Mayer
Commanding Officer
In good spirit,
Mary
